BERWYN WADDON (EXIT STRATEGY) - Ten Albums That Changed My Life - Peek-A-Boo magazine
Berwyn Waddon is the man behind the Post punk band EXIT STRATEGY, that released a fine debut album (Crysella Records).

I had to think really long and hard about this as over the years I have listened to a lot of music as you can imagine. This is not a list of ten of my favorite albums as I think this would be a nigh on impossible task for me to do as my top ten would constantly change... This is a list of ten albums that have influenced me in someway or have had a lasting impact for me. So here they are in no particular order...

Exit Strategy - Exit Strategy (Album Review)
"EXIT STRATEGY’s self-titled debut album is very difficult to quantify. They don't really fit into any genre"

"It’s clear that there’s talent in the making of this album"
Exit Strategy Album Review
"Subject to the dark atmosphere and inspiration clearly tied to tradition 80s, the style of the duo seems to be open to any kind of influence and, as recently stated by the same Waddon in an interview circulated in web, his music is to be considered released from the definitions and the introduction of elements available also heterogeneous, both from punk from post-punk as well as from the goth and metal. All these features actually are detected in the work of the Exit Strategy.........." [Read More...]
Exit Strategy - Exit Strategy (Album Review)
"Rage Of Decay is at once a whopping song. An intro to what The Mission reminds and then turns into a guitar riff from Killing Joke stable. For the chorus they switch up a gear. Halfway we get a more quiet middle piece with beautiful guitar and keys to build up again for the final song. Well done."

" album yet many beautiful moments." [Read More...]
Gothic Rock with Exit Strategy
From the darkest shadows of music strides the titan that is Exit Strategy. A band embracing many genre's of alternative music to give birth to a thunderous bloody and glorious din. Exit Strategy was formed in Wales UK by Berwyn Waddon (Voodoo Bible guitarist) who had a vision for something dark, original, earth shattering and exciting, later to be joined by William Westwater (Also from Voodoo Bible) and the acclaimed theatre macabre band Fear Incorporated. Swathes and textures of gutsy and bristling guitars are used along with heavy drums to manifest the unmistakable sound of Exit Strategy. Prepare yourselves for an all mighty din of thunderous drumming, screaming guitars, superb vocals and lyrics. A true titan of an album-the skies will crack and rain blood and the earth will shudder and fall to dust...An unmistakable sound that could only be Exit Strategy.

Exit Strategy briefs us for a descent into HELL YEAH!
The UK's Exit Strategy strikes us down again with their latest EP, "Briefing For a Descent Into Hell". Once the first track gets its gothy groove going, it doesn't stop until your hair has deflated. Frankly, the overall well-organised sound, with catchy beats, Corpus Delicti-esque vocals and smooth guitar work, doesn't brief us for a descent into Hell, but rather into Paradise! Goth Paradise! Thank B.L. Waddon and W. Westwater for this great new EP and get it here while it's fresh! G.

An Exit Strategy into a rock and a hard place!
The new "Zorch EP" out by England's Exit Strategy puts a tastefully rocky edge on an already very post-punk/goth mountainside. The music is sharp and knows exactly where it's going, which is straight up to the summit. Strongly reminiscent of a cross between Catastrophe Ballet and Rosetta Stone, the must-have mournful-doom vocals, catchy guitar riffs and strong beats take you to the peak of Gothic rock in the early 90s. If you aren't afraid of heights, lace yourselves up and get those knots secured – it's going to be a rocky climb! G.
COMP REVIEW: VARIOUS ARTISTS - Gothic Rock Around The World

Compilations are always worth the price of admission. Always. I have hundreds of samplers, compilations, or press collections from labels. Hundreds. Any time I see one being offered, I am there with a smile on my face, hands out, ears ready. Either I am about to find a new band that I will love, or at least like, or I am about to find an entire albums worth of bands that I know that I never want to hear again. Of the hundreds of comps I have, there have been a bunch where I finish listening to all 18, or 22, or 12, or howevermany songs, and I realize that I didn’t enjoy a single damn thin on the album. Then, I am glad. Because I know after that that those are X bands I never need to care about again. On the flip side though, there have been times where I have picked up samplers or comps and found bands that quickly became my favorites. So, its a mixed bag, but it is a mixed bag that is ALWAYS a good idea.
This compilation is no different. There are a few bands on here I really don’t care if I ever hear about again, a few bands that are nice enough to hear on a compilation, and a few bands that I outright enjoyed hearing. I don’t want to harp on about the bands I wasn’t a fan of, and I don’t really wanna do the whole 'oh... this one was ok, I guess' thing either, so instead, I am just going to tell you outright which song I liked the most. 'Arise' by Exist Strategy. Holy Slayer, this is a good one.
The album is a great grab bag of polished/unpolished, dynamic/flat, amazing/ok songs and bands. I cant stress enough how good the Exit Strategy song is, so if you are reading this, grab this sampler. Maybe you wont agree with me, maybe there will be a different song you like more, maybe you wont like any of them, maybe you will like every single second of the compilation, its hard to say... that is the best part about compilations. They are always a mixed bag. A welcome mixed bag.
Exit Strategy I
"The nine track album 'Exit Strategy I' is an industrial dream of matrices and guitars, metal and goth intertwined. The nice thing about Exit Strategy is that there is something for everyone. It has a nice hint of Prog with a dark twist to create the post-metal sound.Hailing from the U.K., Exit Strategy is the brainchild of B.Waddon and his fantastic talents. If you like something that appeals to multi-genres check him out on Facebook and BandCamp."

Astral shifting colors and warping wood. When I close my eyes and listen to this album, that is what I imagine. I can feel the trees around me come above and grow in millions of directions, the skies and the sun spilling out into each other and mixing, blending. And I hope that is what this project was supposed to do to me.
The lyric-less feeling of the music gives rise to a lot of interpretation and reflection, which I always love. I’m struck with memories of Jerry Vayne's STELLAR album 'The Attic' throughout this album. While this album is very different in its own way, I can still feel several similarities.
This is an interesting piece of work, and I think it presents itself in a very solid and good light. One of the distortions used on the album is a little too lo-fi for me, but other than that I wouldn’t change anything, and I even find myself liking the crackly digital distortion often throughout sounds like 'Wrath'.
The title of the work leads me to believe that there is going to be a part 2, and possibly even a part 3 (all the best stories are trilogies, right?) and I cant wait to put them on, pop in my headphones and sit out in the woods, feeling the music and getting into the images that I can conjure up.
Strong album, strong ideas, and a strong voice, even if the voice is wordless. I recommend this one.
Exit Strategy - Welsh Punk Welsh Goth Welsh Soul Deep Sounds
The wealth of walking in this life, is always being able to experience the sights, the visions, the sounds, and the connectiveness of all.. Music brings so many of these elements all together in so many of us.
Wales has always been a breading ground for music, yet because its a small country, the rest of whats happening in the UK and the music scene from London, Manchester, Liverpool etc has always taken front view.
So many original and retuned elements are being moved and buzzed around, the post punk music mindscapes of Berwyn Waddon and his music persona of Exit Stragegy. I fail not to be evoked by the sounds and view points, speak out , stand out, and shouts out, of wrongness, rightness and whats going on in the world today.
Enjoy and evoke in the evolve of Exit Strategy
